On Saturday 1st September 1979, 31 005 rests at Hundred Road, March. It was withdrawn on 3rd February 1980 and cut up soon afterwards. The Stratford painted silver roof was in connection with a railtour in October 1977.

On 31st August 1979, 31110 seen at March depot, was one of many retaining the gangway connections. Originally D5528, it had spent time at 9 depots before transfer to Stratford in 1977. She was one of the 31s involved in eliminating hydraulic power when reallocated to Old Oak in March 1969.

Frost on the sleepers on 31st October 1979. The location is March Hundred Road sidings with 31113 which was fresh from a Doncaster overhaul three weeks previous keeping company with 31263.

31115 was converted to become 31466 in March 1985 following an accident at Hilgay. Here she is looking a bit worn with the 07.23 Chesterfield - Yarmouth at a busy March on 14th July 1984.

31116 exhibits the first style of sealing gangway doors, without the footstep inserts which was applied to a few 31s in 1977. March 24/3/80

31117 of Old Oak passes Whitemoor Jn with 37 018 in tow en route to Stratford. June 20th 1980.

31119, complete with number in its headcode panel, is seen resting at March depot on 6th May 1980. At the time it was an Immingham machine, but over its career became very well travelled. It is now preserved on the Yorkshire Dales Railway.

When 31121 was snapped in Cambridge Yard on the bitterly cold morning of 16.2.85, she had been an Old Oak loco for over 16 years. In July 85 she moved homes across London to Cricklewood. 121 is seen shunting 5C75 Peterborough - Thornton Fields NPCCS.
